We have this marvelous 2 person Cutter Sleigh, it has such great character.
And we know the history behind this wonderful Cutter Sleigh.
The Sleigh has a plate on the back of it that declares
"Property of the Maine State Prison"

I have been conversing with the warden at the Maine Prison, and he does authenticate that the Sleigh did come from the prison in the early 1800's. It is believed that it was probably the property of the wardens family, and the plate was to assure who's sleigh it belonged to.
The Maine State Prison has had a working industrial program since 1823, in the early days when inmates worked the quarry, constructed wooden wagons, buckboards, wheel barrows, sleighs, buggies and tack for horses.
We also have the hand crafted Yokes to attach to the Sleigh for attaching your horse.
The Sleigh is in great condition for the age, it needs reupholstering.
This Sleigh needs to be used and enjoyed!!!
